Arsenal are reportedly preparing to away Bukayo Saka with a new contract at the end of the season, with the club eager to extend the 20-year-old attacker’s deal.
According to Football London, the Gunners are looking to extend Saka’s current deal, which expires in 2024. The England youth international has been one of the club’s best players this season, with the winger bagging seven goals and four assists in all competitions.
As per the report, a new contract for Saka will reflect his role within the club. With big-earners like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Bernd Leno leaving this year, Arsenal have the finances to generously reward the Hale End academy graduate.
Although Saka signed a new contract in 2020, it is reported that the forward is still one of the lowest-paid players at the club, with Spotrac listing the youngster’s wage at just £30,000-a-week.
To put that into context, only Nuno Tavares and Emile Smith Rowe make less than the England international out of anyone in the entire Arsenal squad, with Cedric Soares earning well over double than Saka.
Indeed, after the barren January transfer window, this news will be a breath of fresh air for Arsenal fans. And with Aubameyang set to leave for FC Barcelona, there is a strong chance that Saka is set for a hefty pay rise at the end of the season.
Saka deserves contract extension and wage hike at Arsenal

The youngster has been one of Arsenal’s best players this season and continues to get better with each passing week. And for Saka, the winger rightly deserves a new contract at the club, as well as an increase to his salary.
After all, the attacker has been one of Arsenal’s most consistent performers since his breakthrough in 2019. And given his low wage compared to the rest of the squad, Saka more than deserves a contract come to the end of the season in May.
