Arsenal will reportedly hand Mikel Arteta a new contract at the end of the season, with Josh Kroenke impressed with how the Basque manager has done this campaign.
According to Football London, the club hierarchy are satisfied with how the Arsenal manager has succeeded this season. Arteta’s side currently sit sixth in the standings, with top-four a real possibility for the north London club.
With Arsenal finishing eighth in the past two Premier League seasons, the Gunners are set to finish higher this campaign and qualify for Europe. And with Arteta’s contract set to expire in 2023, the club are eager to sign the young manager on for the future.
The club’s owners have entrusted a lot with Arteta since his appointment in 2019, with the Kroenke’s shelling out plenty for Arsenal over last summer to bring in six players worth £150m in total.
With each signing flourishing for Arsenal this campaign, there is a strong level of trust between the club’s owners and Arteta, who last week was in Colorado to meet with Stan Kroenke.
Whilst the January window saw a lack of incomings, Arteta and Edu Gaspar were both able to decrease the wage bill further with the likes of Sead Kolasinac, Calum Chambers and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leaving the club on permanent deals.
Arsenal are making the right decision over Arteta’s contract

The former Manchester City coach has divided opinion for many Arsenal fans since his appointment in 2019. However, this season has arguably been the Gunners’ best in a long time, and Arteta has been key to this slow change in the club, which should be rewarded with a new contract.
Indeed, Arsenal have shown a lot of commitment to Arteta over the past 12 months, and the coach’s long-term goal for the club can continue if he signs a new contract at the end of the season.
