Gary Neville has labelled Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey as ‘sloppy’ for Manchester United’s opener today.

The Gunners welcomed Erik ten Hag’s side to the Emirates Stadium this evening.

Marcus Rashford scored a brilliant opener against Arsenal, nutmegging Partey en route to drilling past Aaron Ramsdale from outside the box.

It was a wonderful goal from the England international.

But Neville has suggested that the former Atletico Madrid midfielder – a £45 million signing in 2020 [BBC Sport] – could’ve done more to stop it.

He said live on Sky Sports: “Sloppy from Partey. This is absolutely brilliant, the megs on Thomas Partey. It’s past Ramsdale so quickly.”

Was it sloppy from Partey or a moment of magic from Rashford?

Potentially a bit of both, but take nothing away from the finish, which was sublime from the Manchester United attacker.

Arsenal were probably the stronger of both sides prior to the goal, and it took only a few minutes for Mikel Arteta’s side to hit back when Eddie Nketiah cancelled out the Rashford opener.

Two excellent, yet different, goals have been scored tonight and it’ll be a fascinating second half in North London.
