Arsenal fancy signing Mykhaylo Mudryk and have received glowing reports about both his talent and his character ahead of a possible move.
The Gunners didn’t manage to bring in any new signings before the transfer deadline despite chasing two positions.
A new midfielder was a priority given that both Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny have picked up injuries.
A winger was also wanted having allowed Nicolas Pepe to join Nice on loan.
Edu didn’t manage to sign players in either position though, even if he did have some targets in mind on deadline day.
Arsenal fancy signing Mykhaylo Mudryk
We know that Arsenal pursued Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz on deadline day, but that deal just wasn’t possible.
Out wide, few names were linked with Arsenal but one that really captured the imagination was Shakhtar Donetsk ace Mudryk.
Fabrizio Romano broke the news last week, suggesting that Arsenal had made contact to explore a deal for Mudryk.
Arsenal ended up deciding that a deal for Mudryk would be simply too expensive before the deadline.
That doesn’t necessarily mean that Arsenal didn’t have the money, but more that Shakhtar’s valuation was a little high.
Arsenal may well return with a new move for Mudryk in 2023 though, because The Athletic claim that the Gunners just had to back away because signing a midfielder was a bigger priority.
It’s suggested that Arsenal have received glowing reports about Mudryk’s talent as well as his temperament.
Attitude is as important as ability to Mikel Arteta and he will only want to bring in high-quality characters at Arsenal.
Mudryk seemingly tickets the boxes for Arsenal and a move for him in January or next summer would make perfect sense.
Mudryk, 21, is one of the top young talents in Ukraine and joining forces with Oleksandr Zinchenko should appeal.
10 assists and two goals in 29 games for Shakhtar may not sound all that amazing but Mudryk has dazzled for club and country with his dribbling ability.
Hailed as an ‘incredible’ dribbler and bizarrely compared to Tony Soprano over in Ukraine – no, seriously – Mudryk looks set for stardom and Arsenal will seemingly keep him on the radar for the future.
