Bayer Leverkusen have raised their asking price for reported Arsenal target Patrik Schick, with the Bundesliga side now demanding €70m (£58m) for the striker.

According to Sport Bild, Leverkusen are set on keeping their star attacker this summer, with Schick enjoying his best season yet in Germany, with the Czech Republic international bagging 20 goals in 22 top-flight appearances.

With such an impressive record, interest is bound to come for the 25-year-old, and Arsenal are one of the many sides keen on signing Schick, with the likes of Tottenham, Newcastle United and Bayern Munich also eyeing the striker.

As reported by Jeunes Footeux, Schick is on Arsenal’s shortlist ahead of the summer window, with the Gunners making a centre-forward their number one transfer target with Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette set to depart north London at the end of their contracts.

And Schick could be an ideal signing, though with Leverkusen upping their asking price for the attacker, Arsenal now face a financial obstacle if they are to lure the Czech superstar to the Emirates Stadium.

Indeed, after a record-breaking Euro 2020 where Schick scored the longest goal in the history of the competition, the striker’s stock has been on the rise ever since, yet £58m could be a suitable fee for Arsenal to pay Leverkusen for the forward.

Arsenal’s need for a striker this summer is something that could see the club spend a huge fee on a single player, and Leverkusen’s Schick could be a reasonable candidate given his form this season.

Moreover, at 25, the forward fits Arteta’s profile of signing younger players who could fit the Arsenal system for years to come, something that might see Leverkusen allow to sell Schick to the north London club.
