Premier League leaders Arsenal have been linked with Toulouse star Fares Chaibi but all the signs are pointing to a summer switch to Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Europa League holders confirmed last week that Daichi Kamada will be leaving the Commerzbank Arena upon the expiry of his contract on July 1st. The good news is that, when it comes to moving on from and replacing star players, Frankfurt have plenty of practice.

Die Adler bounced back from the departures of Luka Jovic, Ante Rebic, Sebastien Haller and Andre Silva.

Chaibi, however, will have big boots to fill; Kamada scoring 13 goals while setting up five more in all competitions this term.

Arsenal to miss out on Fares Chaibi

Though Chaibi, a versatile attacker who can play anywhere across the front line, is producing some rather eye-catching numbers of his own this term. Eight goals and six assists during an outstanding breakthrough campaign at mid-table Toulouse.

Chaibi caught Arsenal’s eye, FootMercato reported last year.

But, while nothing is official just yet, the 20-year-old Algeria international looks certain to be plying his trade in Germany next term instead. FootMercato now claim that Chaibi has reached a ‘verbal agreement’ with Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Bundesliga still have work to do, however.

Les Violets want around £13 million (Frankfurter Rundschau). Frankfurt’s sporting director, Markus Krosche, is attempting to reduce the fee. There is a belief that a compromise can be reached in time for the transfer window.

In a further boost to Frankfurt, much-admired head coach Oliver Glasner appears to be sticking around for another year, despite reports linking him with Chelsea, Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur.

“I assume I’ll still be sitting on the bench here next season.,” Glasner tells ZDF

“There is a contract until 2024. It’s no problem for me that we’re going into our last year, (but) that’s not our goal,” Krosche adds. “Our goal is to work together in the long term.

“(We have) also made a contract offer. We are in constant contact. It is a lot of fun working together and we don’t have any stress.”
