Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has managed to sway some of his doubters in North London – but the same can’t be said of Niko Kovac at Monaco.
After three defeats to start the season, Arteta was under huge pressure from Arsenal fans.
Since then, Arsenal have claimed 11 wins, two draws and four defeats, catapulting themselves into top four contention.
Arteta has battled through the criticism and is under little pressure right now.
Some may remember that Arteta fended off Niko Kovac for the Arsenal job back in December 2019 – and Kovac’s fortunes have gone in the opposite direction.
Goal reported that Kovac wanted the Arsenal job and was in London watching Premier League games as he put himself in the shop window.
Arsenal dodged the Croatian and went for Arteta instead, and Kovac now finds himself out of work again.
On Saturday night, Monaco confirmed they had parted ways with Kovac after just over 15 months in the job.

Kovac guided Monaco to third in Ligue 1 last season and they currently sit sixth in France’s top flight.
With a win rate of almost 58%, Kovac has done a great job at Monaco but has now lost his job in a shock move.
Kovac will surely land another job in no time having previously impressed at Eintracht Frankfurt and won the Bundesliga title at Bayern Munich.
Ultimately though, Arsenal will probably feel they made the right choice with Arteta.
