Arsenal might be a lot closer to signing Douglas Luiz, amid speculation about Chelsea and Liverpool being interested.
Sky Sports reported today that all three Premier League outfits are interested in the Aston Villa midfielder.
Arsenal have offered £20 million for the Brazil international [Sky] but the same outlet reported that the Villans were reluctant to sell.
Unless, of course, they had a replacement lined up – and Steven Gerrard might be set to sign that replacement in a development which could, in theory, help the Gunners get Luiz.
According to Sky, Leander Dendoncker of Wolverhampton Wanderers is currently undergoing a medical ahead of a transfer to the Midlands outfit.
Earlier on deadline day, Fabrizio Romano reported that despite interest from Chelsea and Liverpool, Luiz was ‘keen’ on a move to the Emirates Stadium.

And now that the wheels are in motion to get Dendoncker, well that’s likely to help speed up Luiz’s switch to Mikel Arteta’s side.
Then again, it’s deadline day and hijacked transfers are always a possibility.
However, there isn’t much threat from Liverpool, who are set to sign Arthur Melo on loan from Juventus and that almost certainly eliminates them from the Luiz race.
With how Chelsea have been spending this summer, however, the Blues are a genuine threat and Arsenal will want this one wrapped up sooner rather than later.
But with the Dendoncker development, that’s looking increasingly possible.
