Paul Merson has told Sky Sports that Arsenal attacking midfielder Martin Odegaard has shocked him.
The former Arsenal star has said that Odegaard is a very good and quality player and had proved him wrong.
The Sky Sports pundit has said that he was not impressed by the Norway international attacking midfielder when he initially moved from Real Madrid, but the Arsenal player has now won him over.
Merson told Sky Sports: “Odegaard has really come to the party now. He is a very good footballer.
“I didn’t really see that at the start of his time with Arsenal, but I really see it now. He’s a player that sees things very quickly and he has great movement. He is a quality player.
“I think it did take him a while to get going and settle into life at Arsenal. He probably hoped things would work out for him at Real Madrid, but now he’s at Arsenal, and he’s seen what a club it is, and it’s a move that’s worked out for both parties.”

Martin Odegaard a big player for Arsenal
In our view, Odegaard is a big player for Arsenal now and is one of the first names on the teamsheet.
Odegaard is doing extremely well at the moment and is showing everyone why Arsenal paid £30 million to Real Madrid for the attacker (The Daily Mail).
Odegaard has made 19 starts and four substitute appearances in the Premier League for Arsenal so far this season.
The Arsenal no. 8 has scored five goals and provided three assists in those games.
Arsenal are in a good position to finish in the Premier League top four this season.
And, in our view, Odegaard will have a big role to play if that quest is to be successful.
