Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira is still likely to make a move to Fiorentina this summer despite a deal for Dusan Vlahovic collapsing.
That’s according to the London Evening Standard, who claim that Fiorentina are leading the race for Vlahovic’s signature.
Arsenal allegedly want to get rid of Torreira permanently, with Fiorentina having a £12.5million option to buy in the midfielder’s loan deal.
It looks like Fiorentina are edging towards activating that clause even if other clubs are interested in signing him too.
Torreira appears to have no future at Arsenal and his time with the club will come to a permanent end this summer.
That’s despite Arsenal seeking another midfielder this summer with question marks over the futures of Mohamed Elneny and Granit Xhaka.
Despite those potential exits, there seemingly isn’t a way back for Torreira at the Emirates Stadium.
The Uruguayan initially made a big impact at Arsenal, with Martin Keown branding him ‘brilliant’.
Torreira wasn’t able to kick on though and faded out of the plans under Mikel Arteta.
This isn’t quite how Edu wanted to make sure Torreira joined Fiorentina at the end of the season.

The Express reported in January that Edu thought he could use Torreira as a makeweight in a deal to sign Dusan Vlahovic.
Vlahovic instead joined Juventus for big money, leaving Edu’s swap plans in tatters.
At least Arsenal can still bring in a decent fee for Torreira should Fiorentina activate that purchase clause.
Torreira may not have helped Arsenal sign Vlahovic, but money from his expected sale will surely be put towards a new striker.
Every little will help Arsenal this summer as they chase big signings, and offloading Torreira seems to be a certainty.
