Arsenal have decided to let go of an academy player who was once hailed as the ‘best kid’ ever seen by a Gunners scout.
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have started the season with two wins out of two including an impressive 2-0 victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park, a ground where the Gunners suffered a 1-0 defeat last season.
Arsenal have had a promising summer with two academy players in particular excelling with Arteta prepared to hand these teenage talents chances in the first team.
Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis Skelly have impressed Arteta this summer and are set to get chances in the first team but there is one player who will not be getting chances this summer.

Charlie Patino departs Arsenal despite being hailed as the ‘best’
Charlie Patino has joined Deportivo La Coruna on a permanent deal from Arsenal. Patino, 20, has spent the past two seasons on loan at Blackpool and Swansea City and has entered the final year of his contract at Arsenal.
The Spanish midfielder has moved to Deportivo and has explained his decision to depart the Emirates Stadium and move to Spain.
“Firstly, I just want to say thank you for all the amazing memories that I have had at this historic club,” Patino said on Instagram, addressing Arsenal fans. “It has been an honour to represent Arsenal on and off the pitch.
“I joined the club when I was 11 years old with a dream of one day making my debut for Arsenal. I was fortunate enough to make my dream a reality and for this, I will always be grateful.”
Arsenal let go of player once hailed the ‘best kid’ of his age group
Speaking to GOAL, Arsenal scout Brain Stapleton was full of praise for the Spanish midfielder and it is certainly surprising he never really made it at the Emirates Stadium.
“Of all the years I’ve been scouting, he’s the best kid I’ve ever seen,” Stapleton said. “Sean O’Connor discovered Jack Wilshere and he said to me that Charlie is the best player who has ever walked through the doors at Hale End.”
Blackpool boss Michael Appleton hailed Charlie Patino as “outstanding” when speaking to The Mirror and promised Arsenal fans that the teenager will return to north London with a bright future ahead of him.
However, that has never happened and Patino will be hoping to make a name for himself in Spain this season.
