Speaking on the Highbury Squad YouTube channel, Kevin Campbell has said that Matteo Guendouzi still owes Mikel Arteta an apology after he fell out with the Arsenal manager last season.
The ex-Gunners striker was talking about Nicolas Pepe’s public apology after being sent off against Leeds on Sunday, and he said that Pepe’s gesture showed respect, as he’s still waiting for Guendouzi to do the same.

“My thoughts are that he’s obviously got respect for Arteta, that he even came out and apologised. Because I’m still waiting for the Guendouzi apology,” Campbell said.
“Remember how long it took Granit Xhaka to apologise, remember after that thing with the fans at the Emirates it took him a couple of weeks.”
Campbell is spot on, but that apology may never come.
Guendouzi and Arteta’s bridges may be well and truly burnt after the Frenchman hit out at him earlier this week, and it seems as though the two parties believe they are in the right on this occasion.
Guendouzi certainly does owe Arteta an apology, after all, he acted incredibly unprofessionally towards the end of his time at Arsenal.
However, we wouldn’t bank on Guendouzi coming out and saying sorry as too much time has passed for the apology to be seen as sincere.
Aside from the ongoing saga between the manager and the Frenchman, it’s good to see that Pepe was quick to say sorry, and we can only hope that the manager will be willing to forgive and forget on this occasion.
