Darren Bent has said on talkSPORT (4:14pm, January 14, 2022) that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta should hand Jack Wilshere a short-term contract.
The former Tottenham Hotspur striker believes that Wilshere would be a good signing for Arsenal in the January transfer window.
Bent, who is an Arsenal fan, has outlined the reasons why the Gunners should hand the 30-year-old – a free agent at the moment – a short-term deal.
The pundit said: “Bring Jack back. Bring Jack back. Of course, he is one of our friends, he is close to the station, but you are talking about a guy who is in the building, he works for Arsenal Football Club, Arteta would have seen him every single day, he is light in that midfield area, give him a short-term contract. Let him go out and play.”
Should Arsenal bring back Jack Wilshere?
In our opinion, Arsenal should consider handing Wilshere a contract until the end of the season.
The Gunners are light in the midfield department.
Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey are away on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations at the moment.

Granit Xhaka picks up red cards at bad times.
So, in our view, if Arsenal are looking for a short-term deal for a midfielder, then they should at least consider Wilshere.
Wilshere is a former Arsenal player who has been training at the North London club.
The 30-year-old is physically fit, and he could still do a job.
Now, of course, Arsenal need not hand Wilshere a long-term contract, just until the end of the season.
The Gunners are in a very good position to finish in the top four of the Premier League this season, and having a player like Wilshere is only going to enhance their chances of getting back into the Champions League.
