Arsenal’s January transfer window was filled with stories over Serie A goal-machine Dusan Vlahovic, and the striker last night showed the Gunners what they were missing in the UEFA Champions League for Juventus.

The 21-year-old striker forward burst through on goal in the first bit of attacking play in the Serie A side’s European clash against Villarreal, and within a staggering 33 seconds, Vlahovic was already on the scoresheet for Juventus to score his first-ever Champions League goal.

Indeed, the striker broke not one but two records. As per the Champions League’s official Twitter account, Vlahovic scored the quickest ever goal from a starting debutant in the competition as well as becoming the first player born in the 21st century to score in the knockout phase of the tournament for Juventus.

Whilst Juventus went on to draw the match 1-1, Vlahvoic’s quick-fire goal was the main talking point of the night from the English media, with the likes of Gary Lineker being left impressed with the former ACF Fiorentina star.

And for Arsenal fans, they were left stunned and outraged over the record-breaking strike.

With Vlahovic being so heavily linked with Arsenal over the January window, missing out on the striker to Juventus was a damming blow to supporters, who were certain that the Serie A star was heading to north London following numerous reports.

And following last night’s goal for Juventus, supporters will more than likely be feeling extra irate given the record Vlahovic broke and the magnitude the goal will have in this Champions League tie against Juventus.

Moreover, with Alexandre Lacazette continuing to struggle to score goals in the Premier League, Vlahovic’s history-making strike will add that much anger to Arsenal fans, who will feel that the Serbian should be part of the Arteta project rather than playing for Juventus.

It was a memorable goal for Vlahovic and one that could define his Juventus career and their run in the Champions League, yet for Arsenal fans, the moment will no doubt leave a bitter taste in their mouth.
