Ashley Williams told Match of the Day on BBC One that Arsenal midfielder, Granit Xhaka, is a ‘good player’ even though ‘fans have got an opinion on him’.
The former Premier league defender shared that he has ‘clashed’ with the Arsenal player before.
Ever since Xhaka donned Arsenal colours in 2016, he has been a marmite-like figure with supporters, but all of that could soon be coming to an end.
It seems as though he could be heading for the North London exit door this summer, with the Swiss midfielder closing in on a move to Roma.
And if that does happen then it will end a pretty drama-filled time for Xhaka in the Premier League, as he seemingly looks for an exit.
Nonetheless, Williams, who would have faced Xhaka both on the domestic and international circuit, had this to say about the player.
“Yes, definitely (we have had our battles),” said Williams. “We have clashed a couple of times.
“But he is what he is and he is a good player. And I know the Arsenal fans have got an opinion on him.”

If Xhaka does indeed sign for Roma then he will be linking up with a certain Jose Mourinho.
It will be interesting to see how Xhaka’s career pans out from here on in because there have always been question marks over his qualities.
And whilst Arsenal’s decline rests on those at the top running the club into the ground, he has received his fair share of stick over the years and he will want to prove that he is better than what is portrayed about him.
