Five Turkish clubs are battling to sign Arsenal’s Premier League misfit Mohamed Elneny in the January transfer window, the midfielder’s agent has said in quotes reported by Fanatik.

Even during the injury-enforced absence of Granit Xhaka, opportunities for Elneny appear to have dried up quicker than a puddle of water on a July day in Death Valley.

The Egypt international has played only 44 minutes of top-flight football all season.

And with Thomas Partey, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Xhaka all ahead of him in the pecking order, that situation seems unlikely to change.

According to Sporx, Elneny has agreed a deal that will see him join Galatasaray after Christmas.

Gala, however, aren’t the only club looking to bring the former Besiktas loanee back to Turkey.

Which club will Mohamed Elneny leave Arsenal for in the January transfer window?

“Galatasaray is a very big club. They are doing well in Europe and are one of the biggest contenders for the championship every year. It’s a good opportunity for Elneny. He wants to play for Galatasaray,” explains William D’Avila, the 29-year-old’s agent.

“Mohamed Elneny’s contract expires at the end of the season so he could make an advantageous transfer in January or sign a pre-contract agreement for the following season.

“Of course he wants to go to Turkey – apart from Galatasaray – Fenerbahce, Istanbul Basaksehir, Besiktas or Trabzonspor are interested.

“I can say Galatasaray is an important option for him but I can’t say anything more about it because it’s too early to talk about it.”

Reports have suggested Arsenal could terminate Elneny’s £50,000-a-week deal having previously allowed Mesut Ozil, Shkodran Mustafi and Willian to leave for free while trimming the fat from a bloated wage bill.

Galatasaray vice-president Rezan Epozdemir was coy when asked about a move for Elneny this week but did admit the Istanbul club was looking to bring in a ‘number six’.
