Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal could soon make a bid for Newcastle United summer transfer target Alex Grimaldo, according to Correio da Manha.
Arsenal to bid for Newcastle United target Alex Grimaldo
The report has claimed that Arsenal are keen on the Benfica left-back and could make an offer for the 26-year-old in the coming days.
Arsenal reportedly want to sign the Spanish left-back as a back-up to Kieran Tierney.
Tierney is one of the best left-backs in the Premier League, but the Scotland international has had injury problems during his time at Arsenal so far.
Nuno Tavares did not always have the best of times when he turned out for the Gunners last season and has been linked with moves away from the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Earlier this month, Record reported that Arsenal had made contact with the representatives of Grimaldo, who is valued at €7-8m (£6-7m) by Benfica.
A Bola reported in June that Newcastle, Arsenal and Juventus all want to sign the 26-year-old left-back.
Stats
Alex Grimaldo has been on the books of Benfica since 2016 and has extensive experience.
The Spaniard has played in major European competitions at club level and would make Arsenal or Newcastle better.
Grimaldo made 27 starts and two substitute appearances in the Portuguese league last season, scoring five goals and providing five assists in the process.
