Inter Milan are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal target Manuel Akanji, with the Italian giants seeking for a replacement for Milan Skriniar, who is also on the radar for Tottenham this summer.

According to Bild, the Nerazzurri have identified the Borussia Dortmund centre-back as a good option to replace their star defender, with Inter already preparing a €30m (£25m) offer for Akanji as the Serie A side brace to lose Skriniar in the coming weeks.

Tottenham are reportedly interested in the Slovakian titan, however, it is PSG who look the most likely to sign the Inter defender, with new manager Christophe Galtier keen to revamp the French side’s backline and to build a squad that is capable of competing for the UEFA Champions League.

And now, it appears that Inter are taking steps in trying to sign a replacement for Skriniar, with Akanji seemingly the favourite to arrive at the San Siro this summer as Dortmund look to offload the 26-year-old defender, with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United also interested in the Swiss star, as per Bild.

Dortmund have already signed two new centre-backs this summer in Niklas Sule and Nico Schlotterbeck, with the Bundesliga side now eager to sell Akanji with space in the defence limited and the German club aware they can make a decent profit on the former FC Basel superstar.

Indeed, Akanji has been on the radar for numerous Premier League sides for what feels like forever, yet now it looks like Inter will sign the defender ahead of Skriniar’s departure to PSG, much to the dismay of both Arsenal and Tottenham.

Akanji signing is a good move for Inter with Skriniar leaving

Akanji has always been a solid performer in the Bundesliga for Dortmund, yet signing for Inter and playing in Italy could be a smart next step for the Swiss international, with the pace of Serie A much more suited to the titan’s overall game.

Skriniar leaving Inter will, of course, leave a huge void in the club’s defence, yet the arrival of Akanji could be a great fix for the upcoming season, with the Swiss defender no doubt keen to show off what he can do for another big European club.
