Carlton Cole has said on Stadium Astro that Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could join Chelsea and will not move to Newcastle United.
The former Chelsea striker believes that with Aubameyang having worked with Thomas Tuchel at Borussia Dortmund, a move to Stamford Bridge could happen in the January transfer window.
Cole does not think that Aubameyang will leave Arsenal for Newcastle in the January transfer window.
The Mirror have reported that Newcastle have made contact with the Gunners to sign the 32-year-old this month.
Aubameyang has not been playing for Arsenal in recent games after a disciplinary breach.

Cole said on Stadium Astro, as transcribed by Metro: “He’s not going to go down and start battling relegation, I can’t see that happening.
‘I think he will stick it out where he is and try change the tide. It’s one blip on the way. He’ll have to learn his lesson. He’s been stripped of the captaincy and I think that’s more than enough.
‘If he goes up to Newcastle and then gets relegated with Newcastle, where does that leave him?”
The pundit added: “If you look at it, Chelsea are in need of a striker as well. Imagine that, you never know! Stranger things have happened. It’s still London, do you know what I mean?
‘But I doubt that would happen as they’re [Arsenal] not going to sell or loan to their rival club.”
‘Look at the history… Dortmund, Tuchel and Aubameyang… they know each other and he knows what he gets out of him.
‘I’m not saying that’s going to happen, I’m just saying it’s a possibility because everything’s a possibility in football.’

Unlikely Chelsea or Newcastle transfer for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
In our view, Aubameyang is unlikely to move to Chelsea or Newcastle in the January transfer window.
We do not think that the striker will want to move to Newcastle and play for a club that could get relegated to the Championship.
Chelsea are unlikely to sign a 32-year-old striker when they have one of the best strikers in the world in Romelu Lukaku.
Moreover, Arsenal are not going to sell Aubameyang to their London rivals in the middle of the season and make Chelsea stronger.
