Arsenal left Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang out of their squad to face Southampton on Saturday – and fans think this could be the beginning of the end.

Arsenal beat Southampton 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium with Alexandre Lacazette, Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Magalhaes on the scoresheet.

Yet the biggest talking point was the absence of Aubameyang. The striker was left out of the Arsenal squad after a strange couple of weeks.

Aubameyang was hooked against Manchester United despite Arsenal needing a goal. Mikel Arteta then benched him at Everton on Monday night.

Why was Aubameyang left out of the Arsenal squad?

Boss Arteta told Sky Sports that Aubameyang was left out due to a ‘disciplinary breach’.

Arteta called the situation a ‘non-negotiable’, making it clear that such behaviour would not be tolerated.

It’s unclear just what Aubameyang did, but for the Arsenal captain to again be pulled up for a disciplinary issue… it’s not great for the Gunners.

‘Time to move on’ – Arsenal fans aren’t impressed

As you can well imagine, Arsenal fans are far from pleased with their captain.

Supporters took to Twitter to suggest that this is the ‘beginning of the end’ for Aubameyang at Arsenal.

Some want Arsenal to move on, believing it’s simply time for Aubameyang to leave.

In responding to Arteta’s comments, Arsenal fans called for Aubameyang to be stripped of the captaincy.

Only time will tell whether Aubameyang actually has a future at the Emirates Stadium, but he is on very shaky ground now.
