Mikel Arteta has since admitted that it was a disciplinary matter, with Aubameyang now stripped of the captaincy.
Aubameyang also wasn’t utilised against West Ham United on Wednesday night with his Arsenal future now in doubt.

Chelsea and Arsenal have done business on multiple occasions – think Olivier Giroud, Petr Cech, David Luiz, William Gallas and Ashley Cole.
Chelsea targeted a deal for Aubameyang in 2020, and their interest is likely to remain under Thomas Tuchel.

Blues boss Tuchel coached Aubameyang at Borussia Dortmund, and wanted to reunite with him at Paris Saint-Germain.
Tuchel noted that Aubameyang was a ‘fantastic’ player under him and being late for training a few times wasn’t a huge issue.
Tuchel has now commented on Aubameyang’s Arsenal situation, suggesting that he will reach out to the striker to see if he is okay.
Some Chelsea fans think Tuchel is actually positioning himself to finally reunite with Aubameyang and complete the deal Chelsea wanted last year.
There are fans who would love to see Aubameyang in the Chelsea attack, and having came close to a deal in 2020, some think it could finally happen in 2022.
