Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has said on Ben Foster’s YouTube channel that he had not heard about Edouard Mendy before he moved to Chelsea.
Ramsdale made the comments about fellow goalkeeper Mendy while discussing the importance of top goalkeepers for teams.
The England international made the admission about Mendy while speaking to Watford goalkeeper Foster on his podcast.
Mendy joined Chelsea from Rennes in the summer of 2020 for £22 million (Sky Sports).
Ramsdale said about Mendy: “I have got to be honest with you. I had never heard of him.”

Aaron Ramsdale and Edouard Mendy are 2 top goalkeepers
In our view, both Ramsdale and Mendy are top goalkeepers who are doing well for Arsenal and Chelsea respectively at the moment.
Ramsdale has established himself as the number one goalkeeper at Arsenal ahead of Bernd Leno.
As for Mendy, the Senegal international is the undisputed number one between the posts for Chelsea.
The 29-year-old is good with his feet, makes brilliant saves, and commands his area well.
It is remarkable to think that Mendy, who won the Champions League with Chelsea last season, registered with France’s unemployment agency when he was 22 because he could not find a club.
Mendy has kept 24 clean sheets in 51 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
Ramsdale has kept nine clean sheets in 17 Premier League matches for Arsenal this season.
