Arsenal are willing to listen to offer for defenders Pablo Mari and Calum Chambers this month as Mikel Arteta and Edu consider changes.

Rumours surrounding January moves for the likes of Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Sead Kolasinac, Folarin Balogun, Eddie Nketiah and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have been well-known.

There could be more exits from Arsenal though with Mari and Chambers now believed to be available at the right price.

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth made the claim on Sky Sports News (04/01, 7:30pm), stating that both players could go.

The belief is that, if offers come in, Arsenal will move both players on and re-tool Arteta’s defensive options.

Chambers, 26, is out of contract at the end of the season. With just two league appearances this season, Chambers clearly isn’t in the Arsenal plans.

Hailed by Arsene Wenger for his ‘immense qualities’, Chambers hasn’t really managed to nail down a starting spot since his £16million move from Southampton.

Everton allegedly want Chambers for just £5million, and that deal could now be possible this month.

As for Mari, the Spaniard was a surprise signing from Flamengo in January 2020.

Mari signed permanently for £14million, but he has also played in just two Premier League games this season.

Reports have suggested that Mari wants to leave, with former club Flamengo believed to be keen on a reunion.

Offloading the duo may free up room and cash for Arteta and Edu to bring in a new defender to Arsenal in the January window.
