Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has congratulated Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s Rangers on reaching the Europa League final and hopes that the Ibrox club win the competition this season, as quoted in Football.London.
Arteta, who has just signed a new contract with Arsenal, played for Rangers from 2002 until 2004.
During his time at Ibrox, the Spaniard won the Scottish league title and the Scottish League Cup once each.
Arteta has also shared his love and respect for Jimmy Bell, the legendary Rangers hitman who passed away this week.
Rangers beat Leipzig 3-1 at Ibrox in the second leg of the semi-finals of the Europa League on Thursday evening.
The defending Scottish Premiership champions have progressed to the final 3-2 on aggregate and will face Eintracht Frankfurt in the big game.

Mikel Arteta on Rangers and Europa League
Arteta told Football.London about Rangers: “I’m so happy for them, especially with what happened in the last few days with Billy.
“He was someone that I love so much and I have great memories and you just have to see the reaction everybody had towards him.
“So hopefully they can dedicate that obituary to him and go and lift the trophy now because I can’t imagine how Glasgow will be if they manage to win that trophy.”
In our opinion, Rangers fans should be optimistic about the Gers winning the Europa League this season.
Yes, Eintracht Frankfurt are a good team, but the way Rangers have knocked top side out of the competition on their way to the final is simply remarkable.
The Gers beat teams such as Borussia Dortmund and Red Star Belgrade in the earlier rounds.
In our view, Rangers have nothing to fear about Frankfurt and should be looking forward to the final.
