Mikel Arteta has some very good news about Arsenal duo Kieran Tierney and Thomas Partey.
Arsenal made it back-to-back victories in the Premier League on Saturday by winning 1-0 away to Burnley.
But there was some concern when Thomas Partey, making his first start of the season due to injury, told the Gunners’ bench that he needed to come off.
And with Tierney spotted limping prior to his substitution, there was genuine concern for the pair.
Tierney and Partey are probably Arsenal’s two most injury-prone players and an absence for one, let alone both, would’ve been devastating for the North Londoners.
But Arteta has confirmed via the Gunners’ official website that both situations were simply cramp.
He said of Tierney: “He had a problem and he was cramping. The pitch was pretty difficult today. It was long and it was pretty warm to be playing here and some players suffered in the last 10 or 15 minutes.”
And the Arsenal boss expanded on Partey’s substitution: “He could not finish the game because he was cramping. But that will come up. He missed a long time but now he’s back again and he needs some more fitness back.”
Good news
Arsenal are finally building up a head of steam and it’s brilliant news that Tierney and Partey aren’t seriously injured.
The last thing Arteta needs right now is for any absence to a key player and as mentioned, they’re both hugely important for the Emirates Stadium club.
Next up for Arsenal in the Premier League is a visit of Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates.
And another win really would banish the memory of those early-season jitters, when Arteta’s side lost all three of their opening games.
