Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have made a bid for Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez, according to Sport Mediaset.
What’s the story?
Sport Mediaset are reporting that Arsenal are interested in signing Inter striker Martinez.
The Gunners are so keen on the striker that they have actually made an offer of €70 million (£59.74m) for the 23-year-old Argentina international.
Inter, who won the Serie A title last season, have turned it down.
The striker himself is claimed to be not interested in a move to Arsenal or to the Premier League.
The former Racing Club man wants to stay at Inter, although offers from Real Madrid, Barcelona or Atletico Madrid could appeal to him, according to the report.

Claim in England
Interestingly, The Athletic have also reported interest from Arsenal in Martinez.
The report today stated that the Gunners have made an enquiry about the 23-year-old striker.

Could a transfer happen?
If Inter do not want to sell Martinez and the player himself is not going to force a move through, then it does not appear that Arsenal will get the striker.
However, the summer transfer window is still open, and a lot can happen.
Martinez scored 17 goals and gave six assists in Serie A last season, and scored 14 goals and gave three assists in the league in 2019-20.
The striker would make Arsenal better and more potent in attack, not just for now, but for years to come.
