Arsenal are showing an interest in signing Bayern Munich midfielder Marcel Sabitzer with the Bundesliga club already willing to let him go.

That’s according to German newspaper Bild, who claim that Bayern are willing to let a number of players leave.

Sabitzer is one of them, with the report describing his season at Bayern as ‘disappointing’. Sabitzer left RB Leipzig for a bargain £13.7million move to Bayern last summer.

Following Julian Nagelsmann to Bayern seemed perfect for Sabitzer after shining under him at Leipzig.

Yet it just hasn’t clicked in Bavaria. Sabitzer has only started seven league games for Bayern and just one in the Champions League this term.

It’s now claimed that Bayern are willing to move Sabitzer on already – and two clubs are interested.

Arsenal and Atletico Madrid are believed to be interested in rescuing Sabitzer from Bayern this summer.

We maybe shouldn’t be surprised by Arsenal’s interest; they were keen on signing Sabitzer from Leipzig last summer.

Arsenal also desperately need another midfielder this summer.

Thomas Partey’s injury has exposed Arsenal’s lack of depth in the middle. Granit Xhaka continues to divide opinion whilst Albert Sambi Lokonga doesn’t seem ready for a starring role.

Sabitzer has performed at the highest level and may be exactly what Mikel Arteta wants.

Hard-working and able to cover an incredible amount of ground in midfield, Sabitzer was outrunning N’Golo Kante at Euro 2020.

On the ball, Sabitzer is known for his long-range goals and set pieces, leading to the Bundesliga’s official website comparing him to David Beckham.

Bayern will probably demand a profit on Sabitzer, but there is a real chance for Arsenal to land the Austrian at a reasonable price.

Nagelsmann giving up already doesn’t look great, but Arsenal can certainly give Sabitzer a bigger role and regular playing time moving forward.
