Arsenal have been linked with Neto and the goalkeeper has now been left out of the Barcelona squad for their pre-season trip to the United States.

The Gunners are continuing their recruitment drive with Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko closing in on a move.

Arsenal have already secured Matt Turner, Fabio Vieira, Marquinhos and Gabriel Jesus in a very positive window so far.

Edu and Mikel Arteta may still want more new recruits even after Zinchenko – but another goalkeeper would be a bizarre choice.

Arsenal have been linked with Neto

Aaron Ramsdale became Arsenal’s undoubted first-choice goalkeeper last season whilst Turner has been brought in as backup.

Bernd Leno hasn’t left the club yet but is expected to move on, allowing a young goalkeeper like Arthur Okonkwo or Karl Hein to be third choice.

It doesn’t make sense to bring in another goalkeeper but reports in Spain suggest the Gunners have interested in Barcelona’s Neto.

SPORT reported in June that Arsenal fancy Neto and his agents are trying to make a deal happen.

It just wouldn’t be a transfer window without Neto being linked with Arsenal – it seems to happen every single transfer window at this point.

The 32-year-old appears to be available this summer and Arsenal are again mentioned – even though it doesn’t really add up.

Neto has now been left out of Barcelona’s travelling party to the States, with Xavi ditching five senior players from the squad.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Neto, Martin Braithwaite, Oscar Mingueza, Samuel Umtiti and Riqui Puig are all being left out because Barca want to sell them ‘as soon as possible’.

Leaving Neto behind will help facilitate a move but we can’t for a second imagine that he will be off to Arsenal.

The Gunners are surely happy with Ramsdale and Turner as their goalkeepers, and hopefully Neto lands a move somewhere just so the Arsenal rumours can finally end.
