Some Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to Aston Villa being on the verge of signing Leon Bailey.

What’s the story?

Villa have announced on their official website that they have reached an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen over the transfer of Bailey.

The Premier League club have said that the transfer is now subject to the winger ‘completing a medical and finalising personal terms’.

What are Arsenal fans saying?

As you can see from the tweets below, Arsenal fans are praising Villa for reaching an agreement with German club Bayer over Bailey.

Well, some of them anyway.

Arsenal had actually been linked with Bailey.

The Daily Mail reported in December 2020 that the Gunners had been scouting the 23-year-old winger.

Bayer were never going to sell the Jamaica international in January 2021.

So, it was possible that the Gunners were keeping tabs on the youngster at the time with a view to a potential transfer this summer.

However, it is Villa who are on the verge of securing the services of the youngster.

Bailey scored nine goals and gave eight assists in the Bundesliga and scored five goals and provided two assists in the Europa League for Bayer last season.

Jack Grealish could reportedly be on the his way out of Villa, but Dean Smith’s side are building nicely for next season.

Attackers Emiliano Buendia and Ashley Young have joined the Villans already this summer, and there is speculation that they will bid for Norwich City’s Todd Cantwell if Grealish leaves for Manchester City.

Like Arsenal, Villa could be challenging for the Premier League top four next season.
