Speaking on the Que Golazo Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has shared what Arsenal’s plan is for Mesut Ozil in January.

There have been murmurs that Mikel Arteta is ready to put him back into the 25-man squad after reportedly being impressed by the World Cup winner in training, but Romano seems to think that isn’t in the pipeline.

Indeed, the Italian journalist has claimed that Arsenal will look to sell Ozil this month.

“But Arsenal are going to try to sell other players, Sokratis first and then immediately after, Mesut Ozil,” Romano said.

“We have a lot of rumours here in Italy and in Europe about Juventus interested Mesut Ozil, but what we can say is that Juventus are not going to sign Ozil this January just because they are convinced that they are full of quality players like Kulusevski and many others, so they will not be going for Ozil.

“Keep an eye on Turkish football, because it’s possible he will be in Turkey in the future, but it is up to Arsenal.”

This is bound to be one that splits the Arsenal fanbase once again.

Ozil is a polarising figure at the Emirates with some fans believing he’s the answer to all of the Gunners’ problems, while the people at the club seemingly don’t want anything to do with him.

Whether or not getting rid of Ozil is a good idea remains to be seen, and of course, whether or not Arsenal can find a buyer remains a mystery as his mammoth wages at Arsenal will be tough for any club to cover, especially with the financial difficulties many clubs are suffering from due to the pandemic.

This is certainly one to keep an eye on in the coming weeks and months.
