Arsenal and Tottenham are set to miss out on LOSC Lille midfielder Renato Sanches, with PSG agreeing a deal to sign the Portuguese international.

According to Le Parisien, Sanches has decided to sign for the Ligue 1 champions despite strong interest from the Premier League and AC Milan, with the 24-year-old reportedly keen to work with Christophe Galtier again as PSG look to appoint the former Lille manager to replace Mauricio Pochettino.

As per the report, PSG could pay as much as €30m (£25m) for Sanches in what is likely to be the first of many big signings for the French side as the Galtier and new sporting director Luis Campos look to build the European superclub into the best on the continent.

After the failed Pochettino project and their own take of the Galacticos, PSG will seemingly take a more methodical approach to signings and transfers this summer, with Neymar reportedly open to leaving the club and Kylian Mbappe set to become the star man for the French club.

And signing Sanches is an impressive move for PSG given how much interest there was in the midfielder, with Arsenal and Tottenham both recently linked with the former Bayern Munich star, who was labelled as ‘terrific’ during his spell with Lille which saw the Benfica academy graduate win the 2020/21 Ligue 1 title under Galtier.

Indeed, the north London sides will be kicking themselves for missing out on Sanches, who looked set to join the Premier League this summer after nearly 12 months of consistent links to the English top-flight.

Sanches has been one of the best midfielders in France for the past two seasons, and PSG finally coming to their senses to sign one of Ligue 1’s top players will only strengthen their grip on Ligue 1, which in turn could finally lead to success in the UEFA Champions League.

After all, Galtier has proven himself to be the best manager in France, and the 55-year-old could be the refreshing figure PSG need to get back on track, with the signing of Sanches likely one that will be a massive success in the French capital.
