Arsenal and Manchester City offered hope as rumour emerges about £20m deal

Arsenal and Manchester City have been offered hope of signing Andre Silva this summer as Kicker report RB Leipzig are yet to agree a deal with Eintracht Frankfurt for the striker.

The Bundesliga outfits are in talks over a potential deal for the Portuguese centre-forward, but several obstacles remain in place. One being that if Frankfurt agree to sell Silva, they will be left without a top striker in their squad.

It is currently unclear if a transfer will actually take place this summer, despite Bild claiming terms had been agreed. They reported Die Rotten Bullen will pay €23m (£20m) to sign Silva and would award him a €4m-a-year (£66k-p/w) contract.

Leipzig view Silva as their long-sought answer to the goals lost through selling Timo Werner to Chelsea last year. Alexander Sorloth has proven he is not the answer, while Silva’s agents have been offering the forward around Europe.

Some top teams have been cautious to explore a deal for Silva, but Manchester City have spoken with his agent. Bild reported at the start of the month that Pep Guardiola was rivalling Atletico Madrid for the 25-year-old as a replacement for Sergio Aguero.

Arsenal have also shown an interest in Frankfurt sensation Silva this month. Duncan Castles stated on the Transfer Window Podcast that Mikel Arteta’s side have even told the 42-cap forward of their interest. But the Gunners would have to sell Alexandre Lacazette first.

Kicker have given Arsenal and Manchester City hope of sealing a deal with Frankfurt for Silva this summer. The hurdles in place between the Deutsche Bank Park side and Leipzig may well see the forward move to England.

Arteta and Guardiola would naturally love to have a prolific centre-forward like Silva in their squads. Only Robert Lewandowski scored more often in the Bundesliga last season with 41 goals to the 25-year-old’s 28. Erling Haaland, meanwhile, scored 27 for Borussia Dortmund.

Arsenal or Manchester City would easily be able to match Leipzig’s offer of a £66k-per-week contract, as well. But Arteta would still need to offload Lacazette, if the Gunners are to win the race and seal a bargain.
