Jamie Carragher asked Gary Neville on Sky Sports PL (23/08/21 at 10:45 pm) whether he is trying to ‘talk Pep out of buying Kane’ from Tottenham and instead trying to get Ole Gunnar Solskjaer into buying him.

This came after Neville had suggested earlier on in the show that Manchester United should sign the wantaway Tottenham striker, as he told Sky Sports.

There have been well-documented reports that Manchester City would like to sign Kane, with Pep Guardiola playing with Ferran Torres as his number nine in recent weeks.

Even though Torres is yet to score, Neville was lauding him for his performances before Carragher called him out and made this claim.

“So, are you trying to talk Pep out of buying Kane,” said Carragher. “But you are trying to Ole into signing him earlier on?”

Neville responded: “No, I am saying. If Pep Guardiola doesn’t get Harry Kane this week, and we are talking about Manchester City not having a centre-forward, then Ferran Torres looks like a real player that they have signed.

“There are no games being played,” added Neville with laughter from Carragher. “James, my friend, that’s a fact.”

Sky Sports presenter Dave Jones then added: “Let me ask you, Jamie, do you think Guardiola is influenced by Gary Neville?”

Carragher responded: “I hope he is actually. We have more of a chance of winning the league then.”

Less than a week remains before the transfer window slams shut and it seems as though Man City haven’t got their way with Kane.

Daniel Levy has remained stubborn in not allowing his star man to leave just like that, and rightly so.

If one of the richest clubs in the world wants to sign one of the best players in the world then they should put the money on the table for his talents.

Plus, when they sign Jack Grealish for £100 million, who is years behind Kane in terms of performances at the top level, then that in itself has already set the bar.

Of course, with Levy and Spurs, anything can happen yet and the North London club love some late deals.

But with such little time remaining until transfer deadline day, it would be pretty idiotic if Spurs let their star man leave now.
