Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted to claims that Ledley King and Ryan Mason will stay at the club when Paulo Fonseca is appointed as the new boss.
Duncan Castles told the Transfer Window Podcast that King and Mason will be Fonseca’s assistants at Tottenham next season.
King was brought in by Jose Mourinho when he held the reigns in North London, whilst Mason took charge of first-team affairs when the latter was sacked before the League Cup final in April.
From Tottenham fans perspective, King was part of the coaching set-up under Mourinho that failed to deliver the goods, whilst Mason was put in a difficult situation but didn’t pull up trees during the final months of the campaign.
Either way, the criticism from the Spurs faithful is aimed at Daniel Levy and how he isn’t pushing the boat out, from a financial perspective, and allowing Fonseca more of his own men to be on board.
This seemingly isn’t a popular appointment as it is and these first few months of the season are very crucial for all involved.
Tottenham aren’t in a situation where the mood in the camp is all bubbly because fans are frustrated and annoyed because of what they have witnessed during these past few seasons.
And with the club trying to return to the Champions League, it’s no surprise that fans aren’t convinced about where they are heading.
It will be a serious worry if this appointment goes wrong for Spurs, and with Levy under pressure already, it begs the question as to how he survives if they continue to decline from here on in.
