Paulo Fonseca looks set to become Tottenham Hotspur’s new manager – despite making an embarrassing substitution gaffe earlier this year.
Out of nowhere, Fonseca is on the verge of the Spurs job, with Sky Italia suggesting that he will appointed in the middle of next week.
Few expected Fonseca to land such a big job after being let go by Roma, but Fonseca now looks destined for North London.
Fonseca’s most embarrassing moment
All managers have moments they’re not proud of, that they would rather forget if they could. For Fonseca though, his most embarrassing moment is a real shocker.
Roma were beaten 4-2 by Spezia in the Coppa Italia in January, but that’s not the main problem here.
Fonseca accidentally made six substitutions, one more than permitted, having seemingly accidentally forgotten how many changes he had made.
Now, you have to question the referees and fourth official here – how on earth did they not realise Fonseca was making too many substitutions?
Still, that’s an embarrassing one for Fonseca, and one which Tottenham fans have picked up on – mostly with fear over who they’re appointing.

Tottenham fans decide to have a laugh
Those that weren’t worrying decided to joke about the matter, suggesting that Fonseca ‘sounds a right laugh’ and Tottenham should get him in.
Others joked that Fonseca is ‘Spursy’ before he’s even joined the club, suggesting that he has Spurs DNA having some something so foolish.
Some even laughed at Tottenham being a ‘banter club’, believing that Fonseca was born to manage Spurs with such an embarrassing act.
