Jesse Lingard has reacted to claims that only Tottenham striker Harry Kane has done a ‘better’ shooting drill in training than West Ham’s Declan Rice, as broadcast on England’s official YouTube channel.
But the one-time West Ham loanee was seemingly having none of it and issued a brutal response by saying that ‘he lost the main game’ and ‘took an L, again’ in England training.
It’s perhaps no surprise that Tottenham’s hitman is the one bossing proceedings at St George’s Park because you would expect nothing less.
But many would probably be left surprised to see Rice channelling his inner Robert Lewandowski in front of goal, well apart from West Ham fans, of course.
Nonetheless, this was Lingard bantering Rice in training yesterday after the latter seemingly lost yet another match.
“Took an L, you know, again,” said Lingard, seemingly making reference to Rice.
The West Ham midfielder then walks up to the cameraman and says: “Tell him about the finish.”
Lingard responded: “Was he on flames? But he lost though.”
The cameraman then claimed: “Apart from Harry Kane, I haven’t seen a better shooting drill.”
Lingard added: “But he lost in the main game.”

Lingard had his shooting boots on over the weekend when he netted a brace during England’s comfortable 4-0 win against Andorra.
It will be interesting to see if Gareth Southgate sticks with the Manchester United man in midfield.
If he does then he will have a familiar face in Rice behind him because the hard-hitting West Ham midfielder is expected to return to his defensive role in the middle of the park.
Both Rice and Kalvin Phillips were rested for the Andorra showdown and they will be expected to return, with the Three Lions taking on Poland on Wednesday evening.
