West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club posted footage of Declan Rice practicing his shooting in training with England.
What’s the story?
Well, the 29-second video shows Rice trying his luck up against Jordan Pickford at St George’s Park, and he looks in great form.
West Ham’s No.41 can be seen placing some lovely finishes into the bottom corner, as well as a few delightful, curling strikes higher up into the net.
You wouldn’t think the 22-year-old is a defensive midfielder judging by the footage!
The clip ends with Rice giving a look of confidence to the cameras, before walking off with a swagger in his step.
West Ham fans will already know that he has this finishing ability in his locker – now, it’s up to him to push forward more frequently.
West Ham must get more out of Declan Rice
Make no mistake about it, Rice is one of the best defensive midfielders in Europe, and has potential to become an all-time great.
However, we believe there’s still more to come from the 25-cap England international.
As he’s shown in glimpses for West Ham, Rice has an incredible ability to surge up the pitch – remember his late, lung-busting run during last season’s 3-3 draw against Arsenal?
His athleticism is incredible, so he is more than capable of getting into the box regularly, just like his partner Tomáš Souček does so often.
As we can see in the footage too, Rice knows how to finish, so there’s no reason why David Moyes can’t squeeze more goals out of him.
For now, let’s see what the West Ham fans on Twitter have been saying about the footage…
