Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte has told Football.London that Yves Bissouma played well against Frank Lampard’s Everton at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Conte has said that Bissouma has finally understood that he is at a top club now at Tottenham, and believes that the Mali international midfielder is getting used to the pressure and intensity at the North London outfit.

The former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss had earlier said that the £25 million summer signing from Brighton and Hove Albion was not at the level needed to start for his Spurs team.

Bissouma came on as a substitute for Tottenham in their 2-0 win against Everton in North London on Saturday evening.

Conte said about Bissouma: “Bissouma played a really good game. I think that when we go to play with a midfield three, for him it’s in this moment it’s better to have two midfielders with him. His impact was really, really positive.

“I think it’s his understanding that he’s in a top club and the pressure is different and the level of the intensity of the training sessions are more higher so the focus has to be every, every moment at the top.

“The demands are a lot and he’s understanding this. We’re talking about a really good player and he played really well and I’m happy for this.”

Encouraging

In our opinion, Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte’s comments on Yves Bissouma are very encouraging for the midfielder.

They suggest that the Italian tactician is happy with what he is seeing from the Malian in training and what he saw from him against Everton.

We know from his time at Brighton that Bissouma is a very good and dynamic midfielder, and that he has been a success story in the Premier League.

Tottenham play differently, and it was natural that it took the midfielder a while to get used to Conte’s system.
