Fabrizio Romano has said on his YouTube channel that Newcastle United have yet to approach Antonio Conte.
The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that he has been told that Conte is looking to take charge of a new club in the summer of 2022 and not during the season.
Romano has added that it will be tough for Newcastle to convince the former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss to take charge of the first team now.
The Chronicle reported over the weekend that Conte is interested in replacing Steve Bruce as the Newcastle manager and wants to know the conditions.
We covered the report here on HITC Sport.
Romano said on his YouTube channel: “As of now, Antonio Conte has not been approached yet from Newcastle despite rumours. So, he is still waiting to see what will happen.
“From what I am told, Antonio Conte is looking to restart his managerial career after his fantastic work with Inter next summer with a new project and not during the season.
“So let’s see what is going to happen for Conte, but he is going to change his mind only in case of something big, like top, top European clubs, so it will not be easy for Newcastle to approach Conte now.”

Could Antonio Conte to Newcastle happen?
In football, never say never.
Newcastle are now a very rich club after the takeover by PIF, and new owners will have grand plans.
Of course, Conte has worked at major European clubs such as Chelsea, Inter Milan and Juventus and has managed some of the best players on the planet.

Newcastle do not have that calibre of players yet, but Conte will know that the club’s owners plan to bring in quality footballers over the next few transfer windows.
The Magpies are just starting their journey to becoming an elite club in the Premier League and in Europe, and Conte could be tempted by that.
