Antonio Conte is interested in talking to Newcastle United about their managerial job as Steve Bruce seemingly prepares to leave the club.

That’s according to The Chronicle, who claim that Conte is keen on a return to the Premier League.

Conte did have advanced talks with Tottenham Hotspur over the summer. However, that deal fell apart and Conte remains out of work.

The Italian is now keen on talking to the Magpies after they landed their big-money takeover on Thursday.

Newcastle are now owned by a Saudi-led consortium, pumping huge money into the club with big signings now expected.

Conte wants to find out whether he will have a big input in the transfer market, given that Newcastle intend to appoint a director of football.

Conte could be a huge coup for Newcastle

The Italian’s trophy record is truly outstanding. Conte won three league titles with Juventus before clinching the Premier League title in his first season as Chelsea boss.

Conte took over Inter Milan in 2019, and won the Serie A title there inside two years.

Quite simply, Conte wins trophies. That’s what Newcastle want from this new era.

In his 536 games as a manager, Conte has won 315 – almost 59%. That’s a far cry from Steve Bruce’s 37.6% win rate from 999 games as a manager.

Conte doesn’t have to go into any project that doesn’t align with his goals. He’s had spells out of management and simply rejected Tottenham when they didn’t match what he wanted.

Newcastle have the money and the ambition. They can tempt Conte like Tottenham couldn’t.

If Conte is interested in Newcastle, the Magpies simply must be interested in him. This could be their change to bring a proven trophy winner to Tyneside.
