Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte wants an upgrade on Emerson Royal, according to The London Evening Standard.

The report has claimed that Tottenham boss Conte wants a new right wing-back in the January transfer window.

The former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss reportedly believes that Emerson ‘ is one of the first players to upgrade’.

What now for Emerson Royal?

In our opinion, if Conte is looking for a new right wing-back, then Emerson should be worried about his future.

The Tottenham head coach is a very good judge of players.

Moreover, Conte will want players who can given him what he wants rightaway and can make an immediate impact on his team.

We have seen that the 22-year-old Brazilian player is very solid at the back.

The former Barcelona man, though, needs to improve on his attacking forays.

However, we think that Conte should still persevere with the Brazil international.

After all, Emerson is only 22.

And Tottenham signed him only in the summer of 2021, paying Barcelona €30 million (£25.21 million) (BBC Sport).

Moreover, getting a quality right wing-back in the January transfer window may not be easy.
