Newcastle United midfielder Anthony Gordon has praised Everton midfielder Amadou Onana on Instagram for his performance against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
Sean Dyche’s Everton got the better of Arsenal 1-0 at Goodison Park in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
While the result has come as a blow for Arsenal in their quest to win the Premier League title this season, it has enhanced Everton’s chances of escaping the dreaded drop to the Championship at the end of the season.
Onana was one of the best players on the pitch at Goodison Park.
Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent thought that the 21-year-old Belgium international defensive midfielder was outstanding for Everton.
Interestingly, the youngster was linked with a move to Arsenal in the January transfer window.
However, Onana directly told Arsenal that he wanted to stay at Everton, according to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs in CaughtOffSide.

Gordon left Everton for Premier League rivals Newcastle in the January transfer window.
But it seems that the 21-year-old English winger is still keeping tabs on what’s happening at the Toffees.
And, as you can see from his Instagram message below, Gordon was happy to see Everton win against Arsenal and has praised Onana for his performance.
