Speaking to Football London, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has admitted that he actually wasn’t happy when Spurs scored their first goal against Leeds.
Hojbjerg was actually the man who got his name on the scoresheet, and while most players would be buzzing to score the equaliser in a tight game, the Dane was annoyed.
The midfielder says he wasn’t happy due to the fact the London club had squandered a couple of other chances before they made the breakthrough.
What’s Hojbjerg said?
Hojbjerg spoke about his emotions after netting against Leeds.
“I was actually a little bit annoyed because we should have scored a couple of times before and the game wasn’t technically going well,” Hojbjerg said.
“So it was more like ‘I scored but let’s get back and get another one’ because at home a draw I was never going to be celebrating. I only celebrate the wins and we did that.”

Elite mentality
This is exactly the type of mentality you want your players to have.
Hojbjerg could have sat back after scoring knowing that no matter what had happened he’d have done his job, but instead, he was desperate to push on and get the win.
The Dane should be a rousing success under Antonio Conte if he continues to have this mindset and if every Spurs player buys into this ethos, the London club could be very successful in this new era under Conte.
Hojbjerg may have been annoyed when his goal went in, but he’ll have been over the moon at full-time when Spurs secured the victory.
