When both Liverpool and Manchester United come knocking, very few players turn their back.
But a move to the Premier League duo perhaps isn’t as attractive as it used to be. Liverpool are beginning a new chapter under Arne Slot and Manchester United, a decade on, are still looking for a way to return to their glory years.
The Red Devils have certainly been the busier of the two sides in the transfer window so far this summer.
Erik ten Hag has welcomed Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro to his squad, while Liverpool are the only Premier League team yet to sign a player.
One area both sides would ideally like to strengthen is at centre-back, and HITC can confirm that Liverpool and United both held talks with Gleison Bremer‘s representatives over the summer.
Both clubs made enquiries about the Juventus defender but their interest never progressed any further.
The 27-year-old was also offered to Chelsea, Newcastle United and Tottenham back in March with Juventus wanting over £50million for his signature.
But Bremer, who was branded an “animal” by ex-Torino teammate Mergim Vojvoda, has now put an end to all transfer speculation this summer.

Gleison Bremer rejected Liverpool and Man United approach
A centre-back is still high up on the shopping list for both clubs this season. Liverpool are looking to replace Joel Matip after his departure this summer, while United are still thin at the back after losing Raphael Varane.
United remain in talks with Bayern Munich for Matthijs de Ligt, while Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite is also still on their radar after having two bids rejected.
But any potential move for Bremer is now dead in the water after he signed a new contract with Juventus.
Speaking about his new deal to Gazetta, Bremer said “I have rejected other clubs because I’m already at a big club like Juventus and decided to stay here for a long time.

“Thiago Motta convinced me. He is ambitious, together we will do great things. I really believe in the new Juventus project.”
Bremer has decided to stay in Turin despite interest from the Premier League, and only time will tell whether Liverpool or United may regret not pushing harder for a move.
