Leeds United Chief Executive Angus Kinnear has said on The Phil Hay Show on The Athletic that Rodrigo never complains.

Signed from Valencia last summer, the Spain international has not always played regularly for Leeds this season.

The 30-year-old has had injury problems and has also been linked with moves away from Leeds this summer.

Leeds Chief Executive Kinnear has praised Rodrigo for his character and attitude, and has said that despite not always playing regularly, the former Valencia star – who can operate as a striker, winger and attacking midfielder – does not complain.

Kinnear said on The Phil Hay Show on The Athletic: “We have no prima donnas, not coming in thinking they are superstars, they are to work as hard as anybody else and fight for their place.

“You see that particularly with Rodrigo, who I think will be starting more games regularly, but he is there fighting for his place and never complaining for the position that he is in.”

The Leeds Chief Executive added: “I wouldn’t be surprised if he is Player of the Season next year. He is an absolute top talent.”

Rodrigo has made 12 starts and 11 substitute appearances in the Premier League for Leeds this season, scoring four goals and providing one assist in the process.

It must be frustrating for the Spain international not to be able to make the impact that he would have expected to.

Kinnear’s comments provide an insight into the Spain international’s mentality.

It is really encouraging to know that Rodrigo does not complain and simply gets on with his job.

It is never easy for a player to have a great debut season in the Premier League, and perhaps in 2021-22, Leeds fans will see the best of the attacker.
