Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson has raved about his teammate Roberto Firmino on the club’s official website.

Robertson was impressed by the goals that Brazil international forward Firmino scored in Liverpool’s 7-0 hammering of Crystal Palace away from home at Selhurst Park in London in the Premier League on Saturday.

The 29-year-old, who can also operate as an attacking midfielder, found the back of the net in the 44th minute and then on 68 minutes.

There have been suggestions in recent weeks that with the signing of Diogo Jota from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer of 2020, the Brazilian may struggle to play regularly for the first team.

Robertson told Liverpool’s official website regarding the third goal: “He was the one that switched it to me and I just tried to open up my legs. And to be fair to Sadio, he makes an excellent run which takes the centre-back away and I’ve seen Bobby late.

“It was a really good ball and Bobby never lets you down with his first touch, or very rarely, and it was a really composed finish. That’s two games on the trot that I’ve assisted him and I’m delighted because I think a lot gets said about Bobby, I think unfairly, so the fact he’s got two in two is amazing and it was a great finish from him.”

Important player for Liverpool

Firmino did not start the season on fire, but the Brazilian has been playing well in recent weeks.

The former Hoffenheim star is scoring goals and creating chances for his teammates, and he is one of the main reasons why Liverpool are at the top of the Premier League table at the moment.

According to WhoScored, Firmino has scored five goals and provided three assists in 14 Premier League matches for the Reds so far this season.
