Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has been full of praise for new Napoli signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who Leeds United and Tottenham reportedly missed out on this summer.

Speaking to Rai Sport, the Italian boss was asked about his former club, who this season have enjoyed a fantastic start in both Serie A and the UEFA Champions League. With Napoli’s new signings having a huge impact on their brilliant form in recent weeks despite losing some huge figures over the summer.

Kalidou Koulibaly, Dries Mertens and Lorenzo Insigine all left Napoli during the transfer window, yet the Partenopei recruited well this summer, with Kvaratskhelia being brought in from Georgian side from Dinamo Batumi as a replacement in the attack to stunning results.

Signed for a reported €12m (£10m) according to CBW, Napoli beat out the likes of Leeds and Spurs to land Kvaratskhelia, who this season has already scored five goals and bagged three assists in all competitions for the Italian giants as the 21-year-old has taken Serie A and the Champions League by storm.

Indeed, Napoli have landed on a bargain in Kvaratskhelia, and according to their former manager, Ancelotti has tipped the youngster to go a long way in football after such an incredible start to life in Naples, with Leeds and Tottenham already regretting not signing the winger.

Ancelotti said about Kvaratskhelia: “It’s difficult to predict today what they can do, certainly the newcomers have made the team unpredictable. Is Kvaratskhelia a surprise? For those who didn’t know him, we were already following him when I was at Napoli. He is a special player.”

Napoli pushed hard to sign Kvaratskhelia over the summer, and the Italian side’s persistence has paid off in a huge way, with Luciano Spalletti now having one of Europe’s most exciting talents on his books and firing on all cylinders, much to the dismay of Leeds and Tottenham.

After all, both Premier League sides seemingly had a good shot at landing the attacker this summer. Yet with Napoli winning the race, Leeds and Tottenham could soon have to pay an astronomical fee in the future if they’re to sign Kvaratskhelia for themselves in the coming years.
