Arsenal fans were left beaming with pride after Bukayo Saka scored two goals for England on his FIFA World Cup debut, as the Three Lions recorded a 6-2 win over Iran.
A huge talking point before and after the game was the One Love armband Harry Kane, Virgil van Dijk, Gareth Bale and others were set to wear, before abandoning the idea after being told they risked a yellow card.
Putting armband gate aside for a moment, Arsenal fans will love what Saka wore during the win over Iran, and is expected to continue wearing throughout the World Cup.
Starboy Saka wearing Arsenal shinpads
Well, the 21-year-old has taken a bit of north London to Qatar with him, as he packed Arsenal themed shinpads in his suitcase.
As you can see below, the England social media team took a photograph of Saka’s gear ahead of the 6-2 win over Iran, with the kitman laying his Arsenal shinpads out on top of his No.17 shirt and shorts.
They seemed to bring the Arsenal No.7 plenty of good luck, as he carried his domestic form for the Gunners onto the world stage with a double on his FIFA World Cup debut.
Saka netted England’s second goal with a wonderful volley after Jude Bellingham had put the Three Lions ahead with a fantastic header.
The Hale End Academy graduate then put England 4-0 up with a composed effort in the 62nd minute, faking to shoot on several occasions before curling the ball home.
Arsenal gem can become a superstar
On these shores, Saka is already regarded as one of the best players in the Premier League.
However, if he keeps scoring goals in Qatar, Europe’s elite will sit up and take notice of him as a genuine, global superstar.

At the age of just 21, Saka’s mental strength is already pretty incredible, shrugging off the pain of EURO 2020 to bounce back in the first tournament fixture since his penalty miss at Wembley.
With two smart, patient coaches in Mikel Arteta and Gareth Southgate helping him, there is no reason why Saka cannot become one of the best on the planet in a few years.
