Ryan Mason has lavished praise on to Unai Emery, who has been linked with becoming the next Tottenham Hotspur manager.

Journalist Dean Jones claimed in April that while the Spaniard had no intention to leave Aston Villa, Spurs may have been eyeing his arrival.

Tottenham Hotspur interim manager Ryan Mason has now waxed lyrical about Unai Emery in his latest press conference.

What Ryan Mason said about Unai Emery

The former Villareal boss is one of the most highly-acclaimed coaches in the game, especially known for being a four-time Europa League winner.

Emery’s specialty of ensuring that middling teams punch above their weight is second to none, as has been evident during his stint at Villa, guiding them from being in a relegation dogfight to eight place in the league.

As Tottenham Hotspur travel to lock horns against Aston Villa on Saturday, Ryan Mason has raved about how brilliant a manager Unai Emery is.

“Obviously, he has done a fantastic job, not only at Aston Villa but I am pretty sure everywhere he’s been in his coaching career, he has done an amazing job”, Mason said, as quoted by Football.London.

HITC View: Emery would have been the perfect quick-fix Tottenham manager

Imagine if Tottenham had already lined up the-then Villareal manager Unai Emery as the replacement for Antonio Conte.

Top four would more-or-less have been sealed and the fans would have been on board with the positive results on display.

After all, in a season where Spurs have once again failed to have a real stab at winning silverware, let alone getting the job done, a failure to qualify for the Champions League looks likely and is a major disappointment.

If Emery came on a short-term deal to the club, at least one of their motives from the start of the campaign would have been fulfilled.

However, Aston Villa supporters were treated by the former Arsenal boss’ arrival and they have been all smiles ever since.
