Journalist Dean Jones has reported that Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has no plans to leave the club, even if Tottenham Hotspur come calling.

The Spanish tactician is doing an impeccable job at Villa Park, taking his side to 6th place after replacing Steven Gerrard mid-season.

While Tottenham Hotspur have been on the lookout for a new manager, the appointment of Unai Emery has been ruled out completely.

What Dean Jones said about Emery becoming Tottenham manager

Famously, the 51-year-old managed Arsenal before the arrivals of Freddie Ljungberg and of course, Mikel Arteta.

Emery was ranked as the sixth best manager of the past decade by IFFHS (International Federation of Football History and Statistics), as tweeted by the Villareal account, which just goes to show the heights he reached at Sevilla especially.

However, Dean Jones has clarified that there is not a single chance that Unai Emery leaves Aston Villa to become the next Tottenham manager.

“I think Villa’s biggest challenge will be keeping hold of Unai Emery because there will be that temptation to go to another big club again”, he said on the Ranks FC podcast.

“As soon as you taste success, clubs will be circling and a club like Tottenham will be thinking ‘oh actually he’d do a job’, but he won’t be going there at the moment because Emery is very happy with what he has at hand.”

HITC View: Emery to Spurs would have been a strange fit

Well, what can be said is that the Villa boss has won the Europa League four times at two clubs, which does show how proficient he can be in cup competitions.

However, much like Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte, Unai Emery is another manager that prioritizes a pragmatic approach, which Tottenham fans would not take to.

Spurs supporters are known to ache for beautiful football and in case they failed to win silverware under his presence whilst watching their team struggle to get them off the seats, the tenure would have been another one to forget.
